When you live in London, you quickly learn the rooftop dining circuit. You know the spots with the impressive views, the reservations that disappear weeks in advance and the promise of an unforgettable evening above one of the world’s most dynamic cities. Yet, if we're honest, the reality can sometimes feel a little underwhelming. Too often, the “view” becomes a backdrop of polished glass buildings, with diners admiring the skyline of neighbouring towers rather than experiencing something that feels truly unique. Other times, the crowds can leave the experience feeling more like a tourist attraction than a true London destination, making you question whether it was ever really about the city itself.

But what if we told you there was a new rooftop destination in town? And no, it is not in London Bridge, Canary Wharf or Bishopsgate. In fact, it's somewhere you might not expect.

CÉ LA VI London has quietly entered the capital’s dining scene, bringing with it the kind of energy, elegance and escapism that rooftop dining promises but does not always deliver. The difference? This is a rooftop experience that does not necessarily require a reservation weeks in advance to enjoy.

There are only three truly open-air, 360-degree rooftop restaurants in London, meaning CÉ LA VI had serious competition to contend with. Having experienced the others, we can confidently say this new arrival has raised the standard for rooftop dining in the capital. What makes this experience stand out is its accessibility. Unlike many of London’s rooftop destinations, you don't actually need a restaurant reservation to experience the atmosphere, views and energy of the space. The bar and terrace offer the perfect setting to enjoy a beautifully crafted cocktail while watching the entire city unfold beneath you. But if, like us, you believe the best experiences are about more than just the setting, then the menu here is not to be missed.

It may just be London’s best-kept secret, but after experiencing CÉ LA VI, we have a feeling that secret will not remain for long.

About CÉ LA VI

Located in Paddington Square and accessible from the station, CÉ LA VI welcomes guests in regal form with a red carpet entrance before transporting them 17 floors above the city in a dramatic glass lift. As London unfolds beneath you, views stretch across Hyde Park and the Serpentine, creating a first impression that's difficult to forget. It's a fitting welcome to the Renzo Piano-designed building, where the architecture is just as much part of the experience as the restaurant itself.

The building itself is part of the story. Originally envisioned in 2015 before evolving into the striking 18-storey glass “Cube” that now houses CÉ LA VI, Paddington Square has become one of London’s most distinctive new architectural landmarks. Since opening its doors in late 2025, the restaurant has brought a much-needed new energy to the city, combining contemporary design with a dining experience that feels elevated from the moment you arrive.

Rising through the glass structure as the city unfolds around you is a moment that stays with you long after reaching the top, creating the kind of first impression that never leaves the memory.

Owned by ADMO, CÉ LA VI London marks the group’s fifth location, following successful destinations in Marina Bay Sands Singapore, Taipei, Tokyo and Dubai.

Interior Design

Once you step beyond the lift doors, the real transformation begins. CÉ LA VI feels worlds away from London; the interiors of "the cube" transport you somewhere akin to a Southeast Asian luxury retreat, with a sultry contemporary design that instantly creates a sense of escapism. We genuinely forgot we were in Paddington.

Designed by Prospect Design International (alongside design specialist Morgan Carr), the interiors strike the perfect balance between glamour and restraint. Think dramatic chandeliers, reflective ceiling details, oversized timber columns and intricate woodwork that make the statement bar a natural focal point. Deep crimson seating, rich velvet textures, bespoke detailing and subtle metallic accents add warmth throughout the expansive space, creating an atmosphere that feels both luxurious and inviting.

As the day moves into evening, the space transforms with it. What begins as a bright and breezy dining destination evolves into a more dramatic, high-energy nightspot, with amber lighting, deep red tones and neon accents casting a sultry glow across the room, while the DJ sets the tone for the evening ahead. Is it Bali, Ibiza or Los Angeles? No, it's London. And that is precisely what makes CÉ LA VI so interesting. It plays tricks on the mind, transporting you somewhere far beyond the capital without ever leaving it. Every element has been carefully considered, allowing guests to move effortlessly from lunch to cocktails and late-night dining.

And for those seeking a more intimate setting, the 18th floor offers a private dining and events space, adding another layer to the experience.

Dining

Specialising in contemporary Asian fusion cuisine, the menu has been curated by Executive Chef Elton Zaka, offering a selection that will leave many diners wanting to try everything. It comes as no surprise given Zaka’s impressive culinary background, having held roles at Sushisamba London, Nobu Old Park Lane and Amazónico London. Known for his expertise in contemporary Asian flavours, the Greek chef has created a menu designed for sharing, encouraging guests to gather around the table, discover new flavours and create memorable moments over exceptional food.

The menu at CÉ LA VI reflects the same philosophy as the interiors: contemporary Asian influences, considered flavours and unique dishes. We began with the Black Cod Croquettes, delicate and beautifully crisp, served with a dynamite sauce and fresh dill, followed by the Heritage Tomato and Watermelon, a refreshing and unexpected combination of compressed watermelon, shiso, lemon dressing and almond flakes that balanced sweetness with a subtle earthiness. The Stone Bass Ceviche was equally impressive, with creamy avocado, kalamansi and red onion bringing brightness and acidity to the beautifully prepared fish.

However, the dish that truly stole the evening was the Lamb Chops. Succulent, tender and incredibly moreish, the citrus red miso glaze created a beautiful sweetness that elevated the richness of the lamb, while the addition of rice pops brought a playful texture. Alongside this, the grilled asparagus with sweet soy glaze and smoked almonds offered a delicate smokiness, while the Miso Mashed Potato with brown butter breadcrumbs was so comforting and memorable that it is a dish we may attempt to recreate at home.

Dessert continued the restaurant’s theatrical approach. The Tapioca Mousse was a refined and elegant finish, while the Semi-Frozen Champagne Mousse arrived inside a strawberry sphere with chocolate pearls, creating a playful yet sophisticated dessert that felt as much like a visual moment as a culinary one.

The drinks menu complemented the evening beautifully. We enjoyed what may be one of the smoothest Martinis in London, alongside a Chilean red wine from Undurraga Carménère, with bold cherry notes leading the palate and bringing warmth to the meal.

But what stood out beyond the food were two things. First, the exceptional service. The team were knowledgeable, attentive and genuinely passionate about the menu, while the sommelier pairings were thoughtful and expertly delivered. Then came the sunset. Having lived in London for twenty years, it is rare to witness the city in such a magical moment, but watching the sky transform above the skyline created a memory that will stay with us long after leaving.

Why Visit

For incredible views, exceptional cuisine, expertly crafted cocktails and an atmosphere that evolves throughout the evening, CÉ LA VI has created something London has been missing.

In fact, we enjoyed it so much that we returned the following week, which perhaps says everything you need to know. Consider it officially Editor-Approved.
