REDEFINING Pride

Fashion Editorial

To mark the end of Pride month 2021, Vingt Sept has chosen to celebrate some key people with important messages to share. Meet Dextra, a catwalk model who has walked for Valentino and campaigns for neurodiversity, LGBTQ+ and trans rights. Sarah Mulindwa, a sexual health nurse working in Soho's Dean Street clinic, also television presenter of E4's The Sex Clinic. Sarah has campaigned for Terrence Higgin's Trust's Give HIV The Finger and is an advocate within the LGBTQ+ community.

Freya Clarke is a support care officer at charity akt, a charity that supports lgbtq+ young people aged 16-25 in the UK who are facing or experiencing homelessness or living in a hostile environment.

And finally Jon Chapman, a celebrity hairstylist and editor whose clients include Rebel Wilson, Amber Heard and Elizabeth Olsen.

Dextra, Sarah, Jon, Freya and writer Sarah Simmonds will be sharing their stories on the 30th of June at FORA space, discussing important issues during pride that are sometimes not at the forefront of this special month. These will include the importance and meaning of Pride, Rainbow washing and why authenticity is key when it comes to corporate responsibility. Other topics include Neurodiversity and why it's also an LGBTQ+ topic, and the dilemma of the commercialisation of Pride events.

The panel discussion will hear from a variety of panel members who will offer their very personal takes on the topics, and together we'll aim to redefine Pride. We thank our advocates for their time and sharing of experiences during Pride month, let's REDEFINE Pride and celebrate every day not just for one month!
